No, it's not a scam! I would recommend this product.

The ring has good weight to it (which is reassuring since platinum is meant to be heavier). I had to exchange the ring I initially ordered and the process went smoothly. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because of the engraving. It's accurate, but it is very hard to see.
